Family Owned To Better Serve You

The Wooten Agency was founded by Ed Wooten in 1991 after more than 25 years with the National Cash Register Company. A natural and gifted salesman, Ed quickly developed a solid and loyal base of clients that helped him build the Wooten Agency. Referrals from many of his longtime customers have grown his business to what it is today.

Twenty-six years later, the Wooten Agency is still family-owned and operated by three generations of Wootens and an experienced team of insurance professionals. Our agents serve the entire state of North Carolina from our office in Cary, NC.

We specialize in the senior market, Affordable Care Act plans and tax credits. We are committed to making sure the people of North Carolina have access to the best healthcare coverage possible. Let a Wooten Agent help you make the best choice for yourself and the ones you love.

In Memoriam of Nancy Wooten

The Wooten Agency family announces with great sadness the recent loss of Nancy Wooten, the devoted wife of Ed Wooten. Together, she and Ed raised two daughters, Susan Baldschun and Ginny Weant, doted on their seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and started Wooten Insurance Agency. Nancy was dedicated to both her family and her church family at Raleigh First Assembly Church. We celebrate her life and kind heartedness toward everyone she met. She will be missed beyond measure.

Ginny Weant

Ginny is Ed and Nancy’s daughter. She joined The Wooten Agency as a licensed agent in 2011 to give Ed his long overdue retirement. After 30 years in the tennis industry, Ginny has become an expert in insurance sales, and will keep The Wooten Agency going for many years to come. In her spare time, Ginny likes to work in her yard, exercise daily at the gym, ride bikes with her husband and walk her grand-dog Heinz.

Brendan McLaughlin

Brendan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from North Carolina State University in December 2010. He began his career as a police officer, then went into insurance sales in early 2014. In his free time, Brendan enjoys spending time with his family and friends, his dog Lila, mountain biking, traveling the world, cooking, sustainable urban gardening and is an avid podcast listener. Brendan cares deeply about the community he serves and strives to give every customer the time and attention to detail that they deserve.

Aaron Weant

Aaron is Ed and Nancy’s grandson. After earning a degree at North Carolina Central University, he received his insurance license in February 2016 and joined the family business. He loves assisting customers and helping them find the best coverage for their unique needs. In his free time, Aaron likes to go mountain biking with his dog Heinz.

Tracey Shutt

Tracey joined the Wooten Agency team in 2019 as the Office Manager. After deciding that she had had enough of commuting to work in winter weather, Tracey and her husband relocated to Raleigh from New Jersey about 15 years ago. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, jewelry making and knitting, traveling up and down the east coast to visit lighthouses, and is always up for a charity 5k with her dog Annie.

Jonathan Furr

Jonathan’s excellent people skills and experience selling life insurance has transferred over to make him a caring Medicare expert who is committed to finding the right plan for each of his customers and making the process as easy as possible. Jonathan is licensed to sell both health and life insurance and can help with all your insurance needs, including assisting customers with small group health insurance. When not working enjoys watching sports, hunting, fishing, and being out on the water relaxing.

Kimmy Whelan

Kimmy has a passion for people and helping others. In her free time you can find her doing anything and everything crafty! A crafty place is her happy place. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, the beach, watching sports and a devoted Carolina Hurricanes fan! Her greatest joy in life is being a “Super Cool and Fun” Aunt to her nephew Jaxson.

Heinz

Meet the newest member of the Wooten Agency Team. Heinz flunked his agent exams and we are still working on his phone skills, but he makes an excellent greeter! He brightens our day and we hope you have the opportunity to meet him.

Ed Wooten

No one cares more about delivering the best solutions to their clients like Ed. Founded in 1991 by him, Ed Wooten has been a licensed agent in North Carolina for more than 28 years. At 90 years young, Ed stills sees to it that the Wooten Agency is running strong, but has recently taken a different role while his daughter, Ginny, and the team have become more involved. In his free time, Ed enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and is active in the Raleigh Host Lions Club.

Nancy Wooten

(August 17, 1933 – February 1, 2019)

Nancy was Ed’s wife and right hand. She provided customer support and made sure the bills were paid, making her an essential part of the Wooten Agency’s success. Not to mention, she was the kindest and most gracious person you will have ever met. We’ve always relied on her for encouragement and will deeply miss her.
